Channeling time and energy into your own health is – unquestionably – your best investment strategy. Excellent health is the one thing you can own that is worth more than money.
Do you desire to make a make a positive difference in the world?
If so, a long lifespan will increase your potential influence to spread kindness and do good deeds.
However, there is something even more important to you than lifespan, and that is healthspan.
“Healthspan” represents that time you spend on earth being both alive and healthy. That means you have the strength and energy to feel joy and spread joy.
Living longer, living better, and living healthier is achieved incrementally.
Small improvement here, tiny adjustment there – after a while, the new small habits begin to add-up to improved health and longevity.
The reason that the best investment is in your own health, is that when you enjoy perfect health, anything else is ultimately possible in your life.
Perfect health is pure, cohesive, positive potential:
- when you don’t have good health, you realize how important it is and would do practically anything to get it;
- when you do have excellent health, you have the foundational energy to create whatever you wish in your life.
With improved health comes sustained, robust energy that you can then parlay into increased prosperity and deeper relationships. I encourage you to invest responsibly in yourself and your well-being so that you can have the potent, adventurous, and energetic life that you deserve. Recognize health as your best investment.
Living Better is the Result of Stacking Small Good Habits
In order to live the Longevity Lifestyle and feel better than you ever have before, you don’t just need information – you need a way to make the information “stick” to your life.
You can construct a successful aging strategy unique to your needs and then implement that strategy and make those new habits stick.
What has been well-researched, yet little-known is this: when people acquire new good habits, it’s most often because they move through 5 stages of permanent change.
Extensive studies have shown us that permanent change occurs in: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance.
3 Key Areas of Your Life to Prepare for Improvement
Many of the articles, videos, and podcasts that I create for this site are designed specifically for your Stage 3, PREPARATION. This is the most crucial and most overlooked stage of permanent change.
…when people are not able to make changes stick, it has been proven that it’s most often because they skip stage 3: preparation”
How do you prepare? Where do you begin?
There are three key areas of your life that you can prepare for improvement.
1. Take a Fresh Look at Your Own Relationships as Part of Your Health Investment
A productive place to begin increasing your awareness is on your tribe – the people in your life – and I encourage you to reflect objectively on your relationships.
What I’ve learned, first-hand, is that prosperity springs from relationships. The more people you know and like, the more potential for money to enter your life.
Beware of counterfeit intimacy. Superficiality and isolation are two of our most discouraging and harmful habits.
Reconnecting with others improves health and prosperity.
We need that opportunity to develop records of trustworthiness with each other so that we can interdepend on each other.
It’s in our best interests to make the effort to reach out and connect with others, to be genuinely curious and interested in others’ feelings, thoughts, and experiences.
In my case, when my relationships improved, my net worth significantly increased. Also, my physical health improved dramatically. Quality social connections are a verified component of a long life expectancy.
Healthy relationships are an outstanding investment.
2. Take a Fresh Look at Your Own Productivity Style
The bottom line is this: longevity requires self-care.
And self care requires time and energy.
Efficiency systems – or productivity tools – are the key to freeing up the time and energy necessary for self-care. Efficiency can also be integrated into the self-care protocols themselves, freeing up even more time to spend with your friends and loved ones.
You can use productivity systems to leverage your success in these two ways:
- be more professionally competitive and get more done in a day than other professionals do, on average
- get more done in less time, creating more free time that you will then use to spend with your loved ones, or doing good-for-you stuff… like exercising.
Finding clever ways to improve your own personal productivity is a smart investment of your time.
3. Take a Fresh Look at Your Own Vegetable Intake as Strategic Part of Health Investment
Nutrition remains the easiest and most effective way to overhaul your own health.
More specifically, increasing your daily intake of vegetables can be absolutely transforming.
I know no better way of getting more of the right kind of vegetables into your body consistently than freshly made green smoothies.
Dane Findley increased his average daily servings of vegetables when he discovered the power of freshly made green smoothies.
The right recipes can help to take you from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced smoothie-making.
I recommend nutrient-dense, delicious recipes comprised of ingredients that are uniquely beneficial to your own body’s chemistry.
Though smoothie ingredients can cost a bit upfront, many last a long time; ultimately, green smoothies help me save money because I rarely eat out anymore.
And I no longer have to grab “emergency” food on the go when my blood sugar drops, because my blood sugar rarely drops unexpectedly any more. Green smoothies provide me with sustained energy.
It requires less time to make a green smoothie than it does eggs or oatmeal, especially when you factor in clean-up. Also, I don’t spend as much money on nutritional supplements, because I get many of them naturally now, from whole-food sources, within my green smoothies.
One of the key tricks to unlocking your longevity potential is to consume high amounts of dark leafy greens each day. Green smoothies provide an easy and delicious solution.
Never before have humans had access to so much information about how people can look younger, feel better, and live longer. I look through quite a bit of longevity research, and I’ve discovered that becoming healthier isn’t that difficult, if you know what to do and in what sequence to do it in.
You can take advantage of the era in which you live.

Who’s On Your Wellness Team?
To invest in things outside of yourself is not the safest bet.
Cars, clothes, accounts – all of these can disappear in an instant.
In fact, that happens fairly often to people; they spend the precious years of their life acquiring things only to find that when those things vanish, their identity is shaken.
However, two things that you take with you wherever you go are: your health, and your education.
Your health and your education come with you everywhere, despite external events or fluctuations in the economy.
And by “education” I don’t mean a conventional college degree, I mean whatever valuable information, life lessons, and skills you have acquired over the years – whether this information was in a classroom or on the front lines of real life.
“…after a while, new small habits will begin to add-up to improved health and longevity”
An astoundingly effective way to enrich your education is simply to surround yourself with the right people. But in whatever ways you educate yourself, do it relentlessly – and know that self-education can be a brilliant investment of your own time and energy.
How to Craft Your Own Personal Wellness Team
It’s a strange thing to think about – let alone to say out loud – but the truth is that people either enhance your energy, or they drain it. “It can be no other way,” explains author Caroline Myss.

As your own health becomes your top priority, you may find it helpful to think about your environment in terms of what supports your health, and what does not.
Consider the people in your life – those who help enhance your positive energy and vitality – as members of your immediate Wellness Team.
When you enjoy perfect health, anything else is ultimately possible in your life. You can create your own personal wellness team to make excellent health a daily reality.
Your Wellness Team can include the friend with whom you walk the neighborhood on Saturday mornings; the spouse who encourages and supports you as you experiment with new lifestyle upgrades and self-care protocols; your medical doctor; your naturopath; your therapist; your tennis buddy – basically anyone who helps to uplift you in any way, directly or indirectly.
If your intention is to make a positive difference – to use your life to leave the world better off than you found it – then you’re going to need energy to make that happen. Therefore, it can be extremely helpful to have a Wellness Team to help you as you cultivate that abundant, robust energy.
To bolster your Wellness Team, simply remember this principle: give to your givers.
Reciprocity is the magic ingredient for a fulfilling life.
Instead of giving your time to those environments or adults who deplete you, look for opportunities to give your energy and focus to those you’ve chosen as members of your Wellness Team.
Action Step: For today, I’m inviting you to express gratitude to a member of your Wellness Team. Let someone in your life who enhances your energy know how much you appreciate them.
And as you go about your day, begin to consider, “who is on my Wellness Team?”
- see this as a sacred and private internal dialogue (no need to discuss it out loud).
- resist the temptation to dwell upon who isn’t on your Team; instead, discover who is on your team, and celebrate it!
Excellent health is a journey – would you like to be on the path toward improved health?
Invest in your own wellness and reap the dividends.
Your smartest investment is – and always will be – in your own health.
